  • 2 tablespoons Nutella for swirling on the top, optional
  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts, walnuts or pecans optional

  4. For the nut lovers in the world, feel free to add your nut of choice. Hazelnuts, walnuts or pecans would be great. If using, add the nuts and mix well to combine.

  5. Pour the brownie batter into the parchment-lined baking dish and spread the batter evenly with an off-set spatula.

  6. If using, add two tablespoon-sized dollops of Nutella on top of the batter and swirl it in with a knife.

  7. Place in the oven and bake for 30-45 minutes, until the top is puffy, the edges are crispy and the center is mostly cooked.

  8. Let cool for an hour, cut the brownies into 12 squares and dig in. For an extra special treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  9. Freeze any remaining brownies and pull them out when nothing but a deep, rich and chocolatey brownie will do.
